Imagine embarking on a contemporary journey along the ‘Silk Route’. Little explosions of colour and texture greet you along the way adding spice to the palette. Each motif tells a story of that particular room. The detailing cues a blend of culture and imagery that evokes a sense of excitement and belonging. The minimal approach cuts the clutter and the added functionality anchors it well and truly in the present. Among the myriad emotions that each room may elicit a ‘bright-cheerfulness’ is an all pervading one. The experience leaves you with a sense of awe, admiration and joie de vivre.
This 8300 sft interior space is designed for a ‘Silk’ business family where three generations reside harmoniously together in the elite part of Bangalore. Despite the three generations living here together their world view is very contemporary and a judicious blend of the old and the new. Since the family entertains frequently, large lounge areas and opening out into a deck and several family living areas are a significant part of the design. A Pooja space that is the piece de resistance and Master Suite and a Children’s playroom are the highlights.
As a result the designers didn’t need to look too far for the design inspiration; it was the ‘Silk Saree’ – the colours, textures and motifs. In its every warp, weft and weave the details of aesthetics and functionality of design come alive to stimulate the senses. Similar to the motifs on a ‘Silk Saree’ the patterns, hues and textures are dramatic yet restrained. In each room one prominent colour echoes in different parts of the room in synergy and camaraderie, like a recurring theme.
